Scavland Controls & Controller Support

Sources checked:

Scavland ships with full controller support according to its Steam store categories, and launch week showed that "supported" and "comfortable" are not yet the same thing for every interaction. Both halves are below, separated so you can tell official facts from player reports.

What players reported in launch week

These come from the Scavland Steam discussion hub during the first days of Early Access. They are player reports, not confirmed bugs, and NoShadow has said a quality-of-life update is in preparation — see the roadmap.

Reported issueWhat players describe
Inspecting items on hover with a controllerPlayers report the hover-inspect interaction is awkward on pad.
Selling and moving items between inventories on a controllerRaised as an open question on the Steam hub during launch week.
The execute action shares a keyPlayers have asked to remove or rebind the execute prompt.
QuickloadA "Fix QUICKLOAD" thread was posted in launch week; quicksave/quickload is the main save mechanism (see Saves & Death).
Journal clicks can fire your weaponReported as clicking a Journal quest firing the equipped gun.

Keyboard and mouse

Scavland is a top-down game where aiming doubles as scouting, so mouse aim carries more information than in a typical twin-stick layout: the crosshair reports blocked line of fire with a red X, and holding aim extends how far you can see. No official keybinding chart has been published, and the in-game settings are where remapping lives — we will document the actual default list once there is a source better than one person's screenshot.

Saving is on you

Whatever you play on, the most important input in Scavland is the quicksave key: there is no autosave documented as of 2026-09-05, and a "Fix QUICKLOAD" thread appeared in the first week. Bind it somewhere you can hit without thinking.
