Scavland Tips and Tricks the Game Never Tells You
Why these are hard to find
Scavland shows you most of its pieces but rarely the rules connecting them. Each tip below is traceable to the Steam store description, developer posts, achievement text or timestamped launch footage — not to someone’s impression of how the game feels.
1. Your crosshair tells you when a shot cannot land
If solid collision blocks your line of fire, the centre dot turns into a red X. Doors, tree trunks, corners and wreckage all trigger it. Treat it as a free line-of-fire check rather than discovering the obstruction by wasting a round.
2. Aiming extends how far you can see
Raising the weapon increases vision distance. Most players raise it after spotting danger; the more useful habit is raising it to spot danger, especially before crossing open ground.
3. Shotguns apply one bleed, not one per pellet
A single blast can apply a maximum of one bleed effect rather than every pellet stacking its own. That changes the risk maths on close-range fights against shotgun-armed humans considerably.
4. Bleeding does not care that you won
Check your status before you open a body. This is the most common avoidable death in the early game.
5. Weapon condition is a combat stat
Degradation and repair are real systems, and low-durability weapons can fail catastrophically. The store page itself warns weapons jam and that preparation matters. Maintain before a contract, not during one.
6. Traders do not all buy the same things
Buying restrictions are tied to an NPC’s role, and item categories are priced differently by whoever you are dealing with. Learn who deals in what before hauling loot across the map.
7. Shops restock at 06:00, and only then
Trader inventories persist and refresh daily at 06:00. Opening a shop repeatedly before the restock will not help. A sold-out trader is a signal to go do something else.
8. Jobs level the trader who gave them
Completing a contract gives experience with that specific NPC, and rank unlocks exclusive stock in their shop. Some squad hunts and rare item retrieval jobs also pay more when the objective is farther away. Choose contracts by who you want access to later, not only by today’s payout.
9. Trader rank and faction reputation are different systems
Levelling Grigory does nothing for your standing with the Rada. Reputation is not one invisible morality bar — before accepting a job, ask who benefits from it. And if standing does drop, an NPC named Risa can broker amends with several factions, so a mistake is not necessarily permanent. See factions.
10. The world keeps its state, and fights without you
NPCs, factions, patrols and creatures move and interact independently, so fights happen whether you are there or not. Recent updates also keep corpses in the world longer and restore their state on load, and trader inventories persist. Arriving after a battle is a legitimate way to get paid.
Bonus: bunkers punish route memory
The surface is hand-crafted; the underground is generated per playthrough. Going in light because “I know this place” is how well-stocked Vultures die. See bunkers.
Where this comes from
Steam store description and achievement text for app 3373500, NoShadow’s pinned developer posts of 4–5 September 2026, and timestamped launch-week systems breakdowns. Anything that would require a stat sheet to state — damage numbers, tier rankings, loot tables — is deliberately absent, because no public stat sheet exists yet.
